Technical and Security Overview
Accessing Multi Me. Multi Me is an online application that requires a reliable internet or data connection and a modern web browser to access. It works seamlessly across up-to-date devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers.
For the best experience, we recommend using a laptop, tablet or smartphone with a built-in camera. Multi Me also offers a dedicated smartphone app, available for both Apple and Android devices.
Managed networks. Multi Me provides individuals, families, and services with the tools to create secure online social networks. It empowers communities to build their own managed networks, fostering communication, collaboration, and coordinated support for individuals by involving family, friends, professionals, and community circles.
User Roles. In order to safeguard, moderate and support users, there are four types of user roles in Multi Me:
Account Holders are the people who manage an account, for example the ICT person in a school. Account Holders have super-admin status and have access to the AH Panel (see below for more info) where they can mass create and remove users, define roles, permissions and user access.
Buddy Users are personal admins for Supported Users designated by the Account Holder. Buddies are personal ‘admins’ for the Supported Users they are matched to and have full access to creating content on their behalf, as well as managing their Circle of Support. The Buddy system is a unique safeguarding feature on Multi Me that allows key individuals to support users who require help using the system, it is an optional feature that helps to keep multi me safe, and ensure that users post and share appropriately with others.
Supported Users are users that require assistance from a Buddy. Typically these are users with a learning disability or children under 16.
General Users are users who are not managed by an Account Holder or a Buddy, for example a friend or family member that’s been invited to join a Supported User’s Circle.
Secure Chats Multi Me enables users to send instant messages and engage in conversations with members of their Circle or Groups. For added safety, Buddies can moderate chats or disable them entirely if necessary.
Security and compliance. Multi Me is a secure, web-hosted application operating on AWS servers, which are backed up daily to ensure data recovery in the rare event of a site or database issue. Security is our top priority. The website is protected against common threats and operates over an SSL connection, ensuring all data transmitted between servers and web browsers is secure and encrypted. A similar process is followed for storing data securely. We also guarantee 99.9% uptime, ensuring reliable performance.
In 2024, Multi Me achieved full ISO 27001 compliance, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in information security. The platform has also successfully completed the NHS DSPT self-assessment, is featured in the ORCHA Digital Health App Library, and is actively pursuing inclusion in the Digitising Social Care (DSCR) Assured Providers List.
In collaboration with RIX Inclusive Research, Multi Me is a partner of the Professional Records Standards Body (PRSB) and has achieved conformance with the About Me Standard, further demonstrating its dedication to data handling, security, and alignment with NHS standards.
At Multi-Me Ltd., we are fully GDPR compliant and deeply committed to protecting the privacy and security of user data. We have never, and will never, engage in the use or sale of our users’ personal information.
To understand how we handle your data, we encourage you to review our Privacy Policy, which outlines how personal data is used and stored.
If you are a provider organisation using Multi Me, it’s essential that you also maintain GDPR compliance when managing individuals’ personal data on the platform.
