Technical Overview
Managed networks. The Multi Me secure social network gives individuals and families the tools they need to build their own Circles of Support online. It allows communities to build their own managed networks and enables the communication, co-operation and joined-up support of the individual involving family, friends, professionals and community circles. Users can join multiple Multi Me Groups and Communities.
User Roles. In order to safeguard, moderate and support users, there are four types of user roles in Multi Me:
Account Holders are the people who manage an account, for example the ICT person in a school. Account Holders have super-admin status and have access to the AH Panel (see below for more info) where they can mass create and remove users, define roles, permissions and user access.
Buddy Users are personal admins for Supported Users designated by the Account Holder. Buddies are personal ‘admins’ for the Supported Users they are matched to and have full access to creating content on their behalf, as well as managing their Circle of Support. The Buddy system is a unique safeguarding feature on Multi Me that allows key individuals to support users who require help using the system, it is an optional feature that helps to keep multi me safe, and ensure that users post and share appropriately with others.
Supported Users are users that require assistance from a Buddy. Typically these are users with a learning disability or children under 16.
General Users are users who are not managed by an Account Holder or a Buddy, for example a friend or family member that’s been invited to join a Supported User’s Circle.
Instant Chat allows users to create and post instant messages with members of their Circle or Groups. Chats can be moderated or disallowed by Buddies if need be.
Server and security. Multi Me is a web-hosted application. Our secure AWS servers are backed up on a daily basis making sure that we can recover data in case of the rare chance that there is a problem with the site or database. Security is our number one priority, we make sure that the website is protected against all common attacks. The website operates over an SSL connection making sure that all data transmitted between the servers and the web browser is secure and encrypted. We also use a similar process when storing any data.
The cloud-based multi me platform is cross device, cross browser compatible and mobile optimised.
System Requirements. Multi Me is an online application that requires a broadband connection and an up to date Internet browser to access. multi me can be accessed through any up to date device including smartphone, tablet, laptop and desktop computer browsers. For optimal experience we reccommend using a tablet or smartphone with a camera built in.
GDPR. Multi-Me Ltd. is GDPR Compliant. We have always taken the privacy and security of data very seriously. We have never been, nor ever will be in the business of using or selling our user's personal data. However it is a good idea to get familiar with our Privacy Policy which sets out how we use and store your personal data. If you are a provider organisation using Multi Me you will also need to be GDPR compliant in how you use the system with individual’s personal data.
